Reconciliation and First Holy Communion
The Reconciliation and First Holy Communion journey entails parents, the school and the church working together to prepare the children. Children in the current school year 3 and above are eligible to partake in the programme. The Parish uses the I Belong book, a preparation journey which is based on the framework of our celebration of the Eucharist.
Children attend catechism on either Fridays or Saturdays and these are organised and led by a team of dedicated Catechists for one academic year starting from October through to June. Parents also attend a number of sessions where they are guided in ways to help support their children through the preparation.
Special Masses dedicated to the children and their families are also organised by the church as part of the preparation.
After going through all the preparation, the children first receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, followed a few weeks later by the Sacrament of Holy Communion in a special ceremony organised in June.
