Attending Christmas Services

Although the ‘obligation’ to attend Mass on Sundays and Holydays of Obligation remains suspended for the time being, we know that many of our parishioners will want to attend Mass at Christmas.

Due to social distancing requirements, we are limited in the number of people who can be accommodated in the Church for the Christmas Masses this year. We have therefore devised a system of registering for the Masses on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. A form will be placed at the entrance of the Church where you can register for the Mass you would like to attend. Please be aware that face coverings are required to be worn for Mass. Those who are unable to come to Church and register yourself for the Masses, may call our office, Monday to Friday between 11 am to 1 pm.

Please be aware that the Church celebrates each day of the Christmas Octave as the Christmas solemnity.  Thus, if it is not possible to attend Mass on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day this year, please do so during the Christmas Octave. Liturgically, each of the days from 25th December until 1st January is ‘Christmas Day’. One can therefore still celebrate this mystery at any of the Octave Day Masses with the same sense of joy and solemnity.  This will help you to plan ahead for a day within the Octave when you can come to the Church in order to celebrate your Christmas Mass this year without the prospect of being turned away, should the Church have reached capacity.

Wishing you a Happy Christmas

And a grace filled New Year
